Hi, my name is Mieashia Griggs. I am in a very sad and desperate situation. I am in the process of facing a second eviction. I have sought out rental assistance. My landlord refused to take the rental assistance that was offered to me and decided they want to terminate my lease anyway.

I am a high risk patient. I wear a 24-hour heart defibrillator and there is nothing to protect you from being relocated. If I become sick and hospitalized, there are no consequences for anyone.

I didn’t quit my job, I was laid off; all stadiums have been closed since last year. I did not try to live somewhere for free. I have applied for rental assistance programs with an open application that I qualify for.

I have done everything that the unemployment office asked me to do so that I can receive payment and I have not received payment from them since the first week of December.

I don’t have the money to just pay. I’ve been living with no income.

It’s really overwhelming. Because of the stress of this situation, I spent seven days in the hospital for my heart condition in December. I believe this is such an unfair treatment. There is nothing to protect me. There’s nothing I can do to help myself that I have not already done and then to have my landlord refuse to run on assistance after seeing my effort to make sure that I pay them for living on their property is too much to take in.

How do I preserve my life when all the options that are in place to protect me, do not protect me. I know this first hand I’ve already been put out once so this would be the second time.

I’m telling my story because I need to help stop this from happening to anyone else however I can.
